Check out ACRP WebResource 17: Developing a Holistic Airport Common Use Program for guidance on how to expand the scope of common use at your airport. Barich, Inc. led a team developing a guide to help airport operators implement and sustain a comprehensive, roadway-to-ramp common use program. Through this project, we drove discussions with many organizations including airports (of all sizes), airlines, jurisdictional, and other key stakeholder organizations. The product starts with a primer-like overview to understand common use as a management framework and its enabling technologies, leading into a self-assessment tool. This is followed by a step-by-step approach to implement a program that prioritizes stakeholder engagement (vs. silos) and provides best practices in procuring and implementing enabling technology systems. It concludes with management practices to sustain the program.
